Following a whole bunch of spy shots, videos and teasers, Hyundai is finally ready to present the new generation Tucson.

The compact SUV will debut today at 8:30 p.m. EST (2:30 a.m. CET), and will make a bold statement with a bold design, new interior layout and modern powertrains.

The most striking feature of the car is the big front grille with incorporated daytime running lights. The styling continues at the back, with the dramatic LED taillights that are joined together by a light strip, plus an aggressively shaped bumper and diffuser. Previous teasers have also revealed a shark fin antenna, roof-mounted spoiler and thin roof bars, as well as a new alloy wheel design shod in Michelin tires.

Dominating the cabin is the infotainment system that flows out from the dashboard alongside the HVAC controls, while behind the four-spoke steering wheel there’s a digital instrument cluster. The center console features hidden cup holders, the Drive, Reverse and Park buttons, a tiny cubby at the front and another storage space at the back under the armrest, and the atmosphere is expected to be enhanced by the ambient lighting.

Developed and tested in Europe, the 2021 Tucson should launch shortly after its online premiere. Details surrounding the engine lineup remain unconfirmed, but it’s been reported that it will launch in North America with the 2.5-liter Theta3 four-cylinder engine, in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms, most likely mated to the eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 192 HP 2.0-liter GDI from the Sonata Hybrid might also be available.

The European variant could go on sale with the 1.6- and 2.0-liter CRDi diesels and the 1.6-liter T-GDI and GDI gasoline units, with front- and all-wheel drive. Later on, Hyundai might launch the N Line and N variants of the new Tucson, with the 227 HP 1.6-liter hybrid and the 286 HP 2.5-liter unit from the Kia K5 GT and Sonata N Line, respectively.
