Super SUVs have never been faster than they are now, and the BMW X3 M Competition and Jaguar F-Pace SVR are among the fastest on the market.
The two achieve their performance in different ways, though. Whereas the F-Pace SVR is powered by a big 5.0-liter supercharged V8, the X3 M Competition uses a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six that will also find its way into the new M3 and M4.

On paper, the Jaguar has the advantage with 542 hp and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque on tap. All of this power is sent to an all-wheel drive system via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the X3 M Competition is rated at 503 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) . It too uses a similar ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and also has an all-wheel drive system.
While recently putting the two through their paces, AutoTopNL discovered that they are very well matched. During performance tests, the duo went toe-to-toe, with the Jaguar requiring 4.5 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h), while the BMW required just 4.2 seconds. As the speeds build, the F-Pace runs through the quarter-mile in 12.35 seconds compared to the 12.21 seconds of the X3. However, the Jaguar was slightly quicker in the run from 62 mph to 124 mph (200 km/h) with a time of 10.18 seconds, whereas the BMW needed 10.33 seconds.
