Cadillac has announced pricing details for its Super Cruise hands-free driving system.
Shortly after it was revealed that the system is only free for the first three years on the flagship CT6, the car manufacturer has revealed that once the complimentary connectivity expires, customers in the U.S. will be able to purchase a standalone Super Cruise plan for $25 per month.
Alternatively, customers can add Super Cruise to select OnStar and Connected Services bundles for an additional $15 per month. The available Super Cruise plan “enables the map updates and precise GPS corrections required for Super Cruise to function, and also connects the vehicle to an OnStar Emergency advisor in a case where a driver is non-response to escalating alerts,” GM spokeswoman Katie Minster confirmed to CarScoops.

In August, GM revealed that for 2018MY Cadillac CT6 owners who will start to lose Super Cruise this month, a one-year extension will be provided free of charge.
It was only four weeks ago that it was discovered that Super Cruise is not a permanent feature on select GM models. It is believed that if a customer opts against purchasing a Super Cruise plan, the vehicle’s adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping functions will continue to work, but things like the driver-monitoring system will no longer function.
General Motors confirmed in May that it is developing a more advanced version of the Super Cruise driver-assistance system known as ‘Ultra Cruise.’ This system will offer hands-free driving on city streets in addition to hands-free driving as offered by Super Cruise.
