In the scheme of things, both the Lamborghini Aventador and the Lamborghini Huracan are starting to show their age, especially in the face of much newer competition. However, this video shows that, of the two, it is the Aventador that is perhaps in the most desperate need of a replacement.
Eager to see how the new Huracan Evo performs against the Aventador SVJ, Brooks from the DragTimes YouTube channel brought the two together for a series of races. While we can’t condone street racing, it is interesting to see how the two Lambos fare against each other.
On paper, you would be forgiven for thinking that the Aventador would wipe the floor with the Huracan. After all, it is powered by a screaming 6.5-liter V12 that pumps out 759 hp – and this SVJ is even more powerful as it has been tuned to 820 hp. To put that into perspective, the Huracan Evo rocks a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 with “just” 631 hp.

The Huracan does have a couple of key things going for it, though, including the fact that it uses a dual-clutch transmission whereas the Aventador SVJ has a slower-shifting single-clutch gearbox. Additionally, the Huracan Evo tested weighs almost 400 lbs (181 kg) less than the SVJ.
A series of races from both a standing and a rolling start were held. Both cars get off the line with incredible ferocity but it is the Aventador that has the upper hand. In the rolling races, things are a little closer but, as the speeds build, the SVJ does start pulling away. However, it doesn’t pull away as easily as you may expect despite having almost 200 hp more.
