China’s 2020 Ford Territory EV Gets Bigger Battery, Starts From The Equivalent Of $26,360

Ford has upgraded the Territory in China for the new model year, with the electric SUV getting a bigger battery pack.

Offering a 270–mile (435-km) range in the NEDC cycle, a 47–mile (75-km) improvement over the previous version, the 60.4 kWh battery powers an electric motor that generates 161 HP (163 PS / 120 kW) and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque.

Another novelty is the introduction of the heat pump air conditioner, which provides more effective heating in sub-freezing conditions saving over 40 percent of energy compared to the usual system and increasing the cruising range in winter by up to 31 miles (50 km).

Owners will be able to use their smartphones to lock and unlock the doors, turn the motor on and access the HVAC system via the virtual key feature, which can be remotely shared through the dedicated app. The 10-inch infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are still there, alongside other gear such as voice control, navigation, WeChat, etc.

The Co-Pilot360 driving assistance suite is also included, with blind spot monitoring, front collision warning, lane departure warning, active park assist and others.

Ford is offering the Territory EV in two versions in the People’s Republic, both with the same amount of output and torque and the new battery pack. Pricing for the base variant starts at 179,800 yuan (equal to $26,360) after the state incentive, whereas the better equipped model will set buyers back 192,800 yuan ($28,265).
