Climb With Dignity Into Your Ram 1500 Truck’s Bed Using Mopar’s $395 Step

The Ram 1500’s optional multifunction tailgate can be made even more versatile thanks to a new useful accessory from Mopar.

We’re talking about a retractable center-mounted bed step that promises to offer customers cargo-access flexibility without compromise. With one quick push of the foot, the factory-backed step deploys from underneath the rear bumper to offer a firm foothold.

“Our retractable bed step further enhances the convenience and utility of Ram’s industry-leading cargo management and storage system,” said Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA – North America.

The bed step works best with the 2020 Ram 1500’s available multifunction tailgate thanks to latter’s 60/40 split swing-away doors that open 88 degrees. The combination makes it easy to load bulky items, unload and wash out the bed.

Designed specifically to fit the multifunction tailgate, the Mopar bed step (Part # 82216265AB) is made of high-strength aluminum with a black e-coat finish and is rated for 350 pounds (159 kg). It carries an MSRP of $395, but you’ll need to fork out an additional $995 to get the multifunction tailgate.

Besides the bed step for multifunction tailgate-equipped Ram 1500 models, Mopar also offers a bed step (Part # 82215289AG) for the Ram 1500 equipped with the standard tailgate, priced at $365.

For the previous-generation Ram 1500 Classic, there’s a bed step with a 300-lbs (136-kg) load rating (Part # 82214245AD) priced at $304, while Ram Heavy Duty owners can get a bed step (Part # 82215842AE) with a 350-lbs (159 kg) load rating for $365.
