Ford is dropping the price of the Mustang Mach-E by up to $3,000 in a bid to make its upcoming electric SUV more competitive, with the price reductions benefitting existing reservation holders as well.
Ford’s new pricing strategy for the Mustang Mach-E makes the Select and First Edition trim models $1,000 cheaper, the special California Route 1 trim models $2,000 cheaper, and the Premium trim models getting the full $3,000 price reduction. The only model in the Mustang Mach-E range that doesn’t get a price reduction is the range-topping GT model.

This means that the base Mustang Mach-E Select RWD now starts from $42,895, with Select AWD models starting from $45,595. Premium models start from $47,000, followed by the California Route 1 models at $49,800. Finally, the Mustang Mach-E First Edition is now starting from $58,300. All prices exclude a $1,100 delivery fee and of course any incentives.
The news was first broken by the MachEforum, which got hold of a document Ford sent to its dealerships detailing the price reductions. The document also said that current reservation holders for the Mustang Mach-E will be notified via email about the price changes.
Ford has since confirmed the price reductions for the Mustang Mach-E. “In addition to its great all-electric driving range and performance, we’re adjusting Mustang Mach-E pricing to remain fully competitive in a segment that is seeing dynamic price changes,” the carmaker told Roadshow.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is expected to reach its first customers later this year. The arrival of models like the VW ID.4, which starts from just under $40k and is expected to offer 250 miles of range against the base Mustang Mach-E’s 230-mile range estimate is perhaps the biggest reason behind this price reduction.
