The Mustang Mach-E is a very important vehicle for Ford and was recently tested in Norway to see just how far it can travel on a single charge.

Ford says the Mustang Mach-E with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive can travel up to 373 miles (600 km) under the European WLTP testing cycle. In all-wheel drive guise, it has a quoted range of 335 miles (539 km).

Eager to test out this range figure in the real-world, Ford Norway chief executive Per Gunnar Berg drove a Mustang Mach-E from Oslo to the town of Trondheim. During the drive, he covered 484 km (300.7 miles) and arrived with 14 per cent charge still left in the battery. Berg appears to have been driving the extended range model with all-wheel drive. With 14 per cent still left in the battery, he may have been able to travel an extra 67.7 km (42 miles) before the Mach-E ran out of juice, giving it an impressive range of 551.7 km (342.8 miles), slightly above the quoted number.

Admittedly, very few details are provided about the journey, including key details like Berg’s average speed. Either way, it’s an impressive result for the Mustang and confirms that it has a very usable range that should be more than enough for customers.

Customer deliveries of the Mustang Mach-E in the United States will kick off before the end of the year. Local pricing starts at $44,995 for the entry-level Select variant and tops out at $61,600 for the Mach-E GT, the most performance-focused variant.
