Gordon Murray Automotive unveiled the T.50 earlier this year, and the company is already envisioning future models besides the recently announced T.50s.

Speaking with Top Gear, founder Gordon Murray said “I’d like the next car to be a little bit more conventional in architecture, and even more usable.”

He went on to say the vehicle would be exciting, but not as extreme as the T.50. As he explained, that’s the company’s halo car and he doesn’t want future models to take away from it.

While he didn’t go into specifics, Murray did drop a few hints. He said GMA models will be the lightest and best engineered vehicles in their segment as well as the best to drive.

However, they won’t necessarily be the fastest or most powerful. Murray described horsepower wars as “madness” and said the problem with chasing specs is that you’re eventually “going to get beaten.” He went on to say people remember great cars such as the McLaren F1, not how much horsepower it had.

While some people will probably be disappointed that GMA won’t be chasing high horsepower ratings, Murray said future models would be more accessible than the T.50 and T.50s. That’s a good thing as the T.50 cost £2.36 ($3.06 / €2.60) million – and is now sold out – while the T.50s will set you back £3.1 ($4.0 / €3.4) million.

It remains unclear when GMA’s next car will be introduced, but the T.50 won’t go into production until 2022.  The T.50s will follow shortly thereafter in early 2023.
