The recent update of the Honda Civic Type R introduced a number of changes across the range; these include revised air intake, better cooling, new two-piece floating disc brakes for better performance, revised suspension geometry, and new bushings for improved ride quality, as well as smaller styling changes both inside and out.
Honda claims that the interior of the updated Civic Type R now features “revised tactility and improved touchpoints”. The latter includes a new Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a counterweighted teardrop-shaped gear knob, and new physical controls for the infotainment and climate systems.
The new Honda Civic Type R GT features things like blind-spot warning with cross-traffic monitor, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an integrated Garmin navigation system in the infotainment system, wireless charging, LED front fog lights, and a more powerful audio system.
The Sport Line version of the Honda Civic Type R targets customers who want a subtler exterior look from their new hot hatch and comes with features such as a new low-level rear spoiler, an all-black interior, smaller 19-inch wheels with a larger profile tire, and pin-stripe delete around the lower portion of the body.
The range-topping Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is the most extreme version of the hot hatch, with just 100 examples allocated to the European region. Just 20 of those models will come to the UK, and all of them are already spoken for. The special Civic Type R features 20-inch lightweight BBS forged wheels, a unique ‘Sunlight Yellow’ paint, and benefits from a 47 kg weight reduction (104 lbs) over the standard model.
Things under the bonnet remain unchanged, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine still producing 306 HP (310 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque and paired to a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip front differential.
