Icon has just unveiled its latest ‘Thriftmaster’ pickup truck that it lovingly dubs the ‘Old School Edition.’
The vehicle is based on a 1950s Chevrolet pickup and gets its Thriftmaster name from the six-cylinder engine that Chevrolet built for the pickup. Eager to bring the truck into the modern world, Icon has modified the chassis with front and rear independent suspension while also installing Brembo brakes.

As for power, Icon’s Thriftmaster ‘Old School Edition’ features an emissions-certified LS3 V8 engine pumping out 430 HP and mated to a 4L85-E automatic transmission with a column shifter. Icon says the combination of the improved chassis and the new engine gives the vehicle “the performance characteristics of a modern-day sports car.”
Adorning the exterior of the classic pickup is a light vintage green two-tone paint job. The truck also has an African teak bed that includes stainless steel rails and custom removable cargo hold-down pins.
Inside, Icon has fitted a vanilla-hue dashboard as well as saddle leather seats, steering wheel, and roof. The truck also has a Bluetooth audio system, a powerful new air conditioning unit, and classic round gauges and buttons across the dashboard. We imagine driving this thing would be like taking a step back in time but with the kind of performance, you’d expect from a modern-day muscle car.
Given that Icon specializes in restomods, customers looking for a Thriftmaster from Icon can customize all aspects of the build to suit their individual tastes.
