The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is one hell of a performance car, but if you don’t need supercar-levels of power, the SRT 392 Scat Pack Widebody is a very compelling option.
Reviewed by TheStraightPipes, the SRT 392 is a car that shouldn’t be underestimated. Sure, it doesn’t have a supercharger but no one really needs 700 hp on the street, let alone the 797 hp offered up by the SRT Hellcat Redeye.
As the name implies, the car’s V8 engine displaces 392 cubic inches, or 6.4-liters. It is rated at 485 hp and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque and drives the rear wheels. Customers can choose between an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual, with the model featured in this review having the stick shift.

The reviewers note that the Challenger SRT 392 Scat Pack Widebody is lots of fun to drive and perhaps even more enjoyable than the Hellcat as you can actually use its power on the street. They add that it feels more like a sports car than the Hellcat while also being more track-focused, something that translates well into on-road performance.
As for the engine, it seems to be a bit of a mixed bag. There’s no doubt the 6.4-liter V8 sounds good, but TheStraightPipes say it sounds that much better in the Hellcat with the addition of the supercharger whine. Nonetheless, the car is still pretty fast and can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in the low 4-second range.
