It’s not every day you come across a 1989 Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo, more so if the car in question has such low mileage.

This Medium Blue Metallic Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo is just the second of 68 examples modified by Callaway for the 1989MY and one of the just 25 Convertible models. It shows just 6k miles on the odometer and is currently offered in an auction over at Bring A Trailer by its third owner.

The original owner of the car had it until 2004, with the third owner installing a Callaway AeroBody kit back in 2007. The specification of the twin-turbo Corvette includes a set of magnesium wheels, sport mufflers, a power steering cooler, electronic climate control, J55 heavy-duty brakes and more.

Callaway’s twin-turbo conversion was offered as an option through select Chevrolet dealers between 1987 and 1991. The cars were shipped directly from the Bowling Green factory to Callaway for the conversion.

Consequently, a pair of Rotomaster Compac turbochargers fitted to the 5.7-liter V8 that produced 382 HP and 562 lb-ft of torque. Other modifications include two extra Bosch injectors driven by an enrichment controller and extra cooling channels for the intercoolers. Paired to the engine is a four-speed automatic transmission.

The interior is clad in blue leather with matching carpets and it’s pretty much flawless. The digital instrument cluster works as it should, while the analog boost gauge that all Callaway Twin Turbo Corvettes had is also present and working. Callaway emblems are scattered around the cabin, together with the build plaque that shows that this is car #2 of the 1989MY.

These cars became poster material the minute they started rolling on the streets, offering exceptional performance for their era. Seeing one in such great condition is not your everyday find and we are curious to see how much the winning bidder will have to pay for it.
