Ever since BMW reshuffled its 6-Series lineup, opting for a more practical GT variant as a replacement for the old 6-Series Gran Coupe, Audi’s A7 Sportback and Mercedes’ CLS Coupe suddenly found themselves in a two-way battle.

Deciding between one of these two luxury four-door coupes is tough enough, but what if we mix it up a bit and add Prior Design widebody packages to the equation?

Both cars pretty much feature the same bumper-to-bumper visual changes, and their ride height has been reduced for good measure, which in turn gives them a more dynamic look. So, let’s see how they compare.

Audi A7 PDA700 Widebody

We’ve seen our fair share of modded A7s before, most recently the 730 HP RS7-R by ABT Sportsline. But what that car has in terms of power upgrades and new front and rear visuals, it lacks in width. Granted, it’s a mean-looking thing, but it’s definitely not flexing as much as this Prior Design version.

You can get the PDA700 Widebody kit for any A7 Sportback model by the way, from the base-spec all the way to the S7 or the RS7 flagship.

We could make the case for the A7 wearing the kit a little bit more seamlessly than its rival from Mercedes, given the former’s angular design.

Mercedes CLS PD Widebody

The CLS has a more elegant exterior than the A7. Fewer lines, fewer creases and a more sedan-like rear end, despite the sloping roof and the Coupe moniker.

This mod reminds us a little bit of the Brabus CLS Rocket, and we’re actually still waiting for Brabus to unleash that mod into this latest C257 CLS. In any case, the previous two CLS Rockets have looked properly menacing, and this Prior Design-tuned one is no “choir boy” either.

All things considered, which of these two do you feel works better with a widebody kit and why?
