The Pagani Huayra BC Roadster has just set an unofficial production car lap record at Spa Francorchamps.
During a recent round of testing at the famous Belgian Formula 1 circuit, the limited-run Huayra BC Roadster completed a lap in 2:23.08. That’s a very quick time and beats the 2:24.82 set by a McLaren Senna roughly 18 months ago during a private track day among McLaren owners.
Given how much time, money, and resources Pagani spends on making each new iteration of the Huayra better, it’s hardly a surprise that the BC Roadster is now the king of the Pagani family. During the record-setting lap, it hit a top speed of 318 km/h (197 mph) down the track’s long straight and thanks to its aerodynamic parts, also take corners at a very impressive pace. Making the lap all the more noteworthy is the fact that some sections of the circuit were slightly damp.

Watch the lap closely, however, and you will notice that the man behind the wheel, Andrea Palma, cut the famous Raidillon corner just after Eau Rouge and inevitably gained a few tenths in doing so. It seems Pagani knew cutting the corner could prove to be a point of contention so the camera angle briefly changes as Palma goes through the corner (watch at the 3:42 mark.)
Powering the Huayra BC is a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter AMG-built V12 engine pumping out 791 hp and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed Xtrac transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Adding to the on-track credentials of the car is the fact that it produces 1,102 lbs (500 kg) of downforce at 280 km/h (174 mph).
