A rare 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato is heading to auction on September 5 and could sell for between £7 million and £9 million ($9.3 million – $12 million).
This DB4 GT Zagato is chassis 0176/R and was the only example produced by the British car manufacturer painted in Peony, an elegant shade of dark red. It was originally owned by Teddy Beck of Cheshire, England who kept the car for over two decades, clocking up 15,000 miles (24,140 km).

In the subsequent decades, the car has been owned by Aston Martin director Victor Gauntlett with the current owner acquiring the vehicle in 1985. During his ownership, the car has been driven more than 30,000 miles (48,280 km).
Despite being driven quite frequently, the car has won various awards at the world’s leading Concours d’elegance events and has been featured in numerous books. It includes a numbers-matching engine and is one of the very few Zagato-bodied DB4 GTs to remain in fundamentally original condition and has never required a complete restoration.
Powering the car is a 3.7-liter aluminum inline-six cylinder engine pumping out 314 hp and allowing the DB4 GT Zagato to hit 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of approximately 154 mph (248 km/h). Just 25 examples were ever manufactured, making it one of the rarest Aston Martins ever, the Gooding & Company listing reveals.
In July 2018, a different 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato sold at auction for £10,081,500 ($13,447,763).
