The SSC Tuatara is an absolute beast of a thing and as this new video showcasing the American hypercar reveals, riding shotgun in it is an experience that simply can’t be replicated by any other car.
SSC has been testing out its first customer-delivered Tuatara for a few months now and has been slowly releasing new and exciting clips of the car. Producer and YouTuber Buddy Wyrick is among the lucky few to have helped film some things for SSC and with Jerod Shelby behind the wheel, also jumped into the passenger seat for a quick spin.
While this clip doesn’t provide a view of the speedometer to show how fast the car was accelerating, all you need to do is watch Wyrick’s expression as Shelby pins the throttle to get a feeling for just how quick it is.

Back in June, SSC itself released a video that showed the Tuatara sprinting from 60 mph (96 km/h) to 120 mph (193 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds, a truly insane figure.
The key reason why the Tuatara is so fast is that it is powered by a 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a flat-plane crank that delivers 1,750 hp when running on E85 ethanol and 1,350 hp with 91 octane fuel. This engine is mated to a quick-shifting transmission that powers the rear wheels. Despite sending all of its power to the rear, the car doesn’t seem to encounter any traction issues when driven at full throttle.
