VW Group CEO Herbet Diess has just appointed Cupra chief exec Wayne Griffiths as the new boss of SEAT. He will move into his new office on October 1st.
Griffiths will also continue as CEO and President of the Cupra brand, while keeping his position of Sales and Marketing executive VP of the company. Meanwhile, Herbert Steiner will take over as SEAT’s new VP for Production and Logistics.
After joining SEAT in 2016 as head of sales, Griffiths managed to help make the Spanish carmaker the fastest growing brand in Europe, breaking all-time sales records with an increase of more than 40% between 2016 and 2019. He is also one of the founders of the Cupra brand, taking over as CEO in January of last year.

“Wayne Griffiths is one of the Group’s most qualified managers. Over the past four years, he has driven SEAT sales to record levels and is leading the development of the new Cupra brand. He has my full support and I’m convinced that he will continue this path of success at SEAT,” stated Diess.
Back in July, SEAT announced a 5 billion euro investment plan between 2020 and 2025, kicking off with the launch of five new electric and plug-in hybrid models within the next 12 months.
Other management changes include Steiner taking over from Christian Vollmer, who moves to the VW brand as new Production Board Member, while SEAT VP for Legal Services Luis Comas becomes an independent member on the board of directors of SEAT.
