A handful of British publications have had the opportunity to take an up close look at the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost, shortly after the luxurious new sedan was unveiled.
In creating the new car, Rolls-Royce wanted to produce something that was more enjoyable to drive than its predecessor while also being more comfortable to be driven in. They started out by basing the Ghost around the same aluminum architecture as the Phantom and Cullinan. For the Ghost, the bulkhead, floor, cross members, and sill panels were re-positioned.

Thanks to the new platform, the 2021 Ghost is slightly longer and wider than the outgoing model and like any good Rolls-Royce, the interior has been designed to be as luxurious and comfortable as possible. This is particularly evident in the second-row where passengers each get a TV screen, a table, as well as fridge between the two seats with both winter and summer cooling settings.
Interestingly, the new Ghost uses digital instrument gauges but elsewhere, tries to retain traditional switches and buttons where possible. This is particularly evident with the climate controls that Rolls-Royce says have been designed to feel as natural as possible while also being very easy to use, unlike some modern cars that bury their climate control settings within dedicated touchscreen displays.
Driving the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost is a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 563 HP and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission powering all-four wheels.
