Audi has introduced a new plug-in hybrid model to the United States, the 2021 A7 55 TFSI e, bringing the number of PHEVs it sells in the country to three.

The A7 plug-in hybrid joins the updated 2021 Q5 55 TFSI e and the A8 60 TFSI e in the brand’s U.S. lineup. All three plug-in hybrids are on sale now as part of Audi USA’s commitment to have 30 percent of its portfolio electrified by 2025.

The 2021 A7 55 TFSI e shares its plug-in hybrid powertrain with the Q5 55 TFSI e, namely a 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor that produce a combined 362 HP (367 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels by the quattro all-wheel drive with ultra technology.

For 2021, the Q5 55 TFSI e has received a sharper design and the latest MIB 3 infotainment architecture as part of its mid-cycle facelift. The 14.1 kWh battery pack enables an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 19 miles (30.5 km) for the Q5 PHEV and 24 miles (38.6 km) for the A7 PHEV. Prices start from $51,900 for the 2021 Q5 55 TFSI e Premium and $74,900 for the 2021 A7 55 TFSI e Premium Plus. Both models qualify for a $6,712 federal tax incentive and are eligible for HOV lane access in several states.

As for the 2021 Audi A8 60 TFSI e, it combines a 3.0-liter V6 with an electric motor for a combined 443 HP (449 PS) and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque. The plug-in hybrid luxury sedan packs the same 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery as the Q5 and A7 PHEVs, can cover an EPA-estimated 18 miles (29 km) in all-electric mode and comes equipped with standard quattro AWD and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The 2021 A8 60 TFSI e starts from $95,900, a $1,900 increase over the 2020 model.
