The facelifted Mercedes-AMG E 63 S offers the kind of performance once reserved for high-end supercars.
Powering the car is AMG’s familiar twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that is good for 603 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. These figures are unchanged from the pre-facelift E 63 S, but the revamped sedan has a revised nine-speed SpeedShift transmission with a wet start-off clutch rather than a torque converter as well as dynamic engine mounts.
Mercedes-AMG claims the 2021 E 63 S requires just 3.4 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h), but during a recent test of the super sedan on the Autobahn, YouTuber Automann-TV was able to launch off the line to 62 mph in 3.3 seconds.

While testing out the car, the YouTuber also performed a 100 km/h – 200 km/h (62 mph – 124 mph) test, which took just 7.7 seconds. To put that into perspective, Automann-TV needed 8.1 seconds to go from 62 mph – 124 mph in the latest Audi RS6 Avant, but he does acknowledge the Audi had 22-inch wheels while the Mercedes has 20-inch ones.
Beyond its performance, the facelifted E 63 S benefits from a series of styling updates. For example, it sports a revised front fascia with a new grille, updated bumper, and new head and taillights.
Alterations continue in the cabin and include a new steering wheel with double horizontal spokes and haptic controls, while Mercedes has also fitted its latest MBUX infotainment system.
