The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox and 2022 GMC Terrain will reportedly be available with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
Not too long ago, General Motors dropped the 2.0-liter turbo four LTG gas engine of the 2021 Equinox and Terrain. The 2.0-liter turbo heading to 2022 models is the company’s LSY engine and, while it has less power, it is more efficient.
GM Authority reports that LSY four that will be available in the 2022 Equinox and 2022 Terrain will pump out 237 hp and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque, matching the figures of the Cadillac XT4 with the same engine. To put those figures into perspective, the previous 2.0-liter turbo LTG engine had 252 hp and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque.

Fuel efficiency details have yet to be announced for the Equinox and Terrain with the LSY four, but GM Authority notes that it will produce fewer emissions than the old LTG while also providing a more refined power delivery.
Like the 2021 models, the 2022 Equinox and Terrain will also be available with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 170 hp and 203 lb-ft (275 Nm) of torque.
Chevrolet updated the Equinox for the 2021 model year, so the 2022 model is expected to look the same. The GMC Terrain will be facelifted for the 2022MY, and spy shots from earlier this year reveal it will sport a redesigned front grille and a new front bumper with revised air intakes.
