BMW has introduced the M3 Ronnie Fieg Edition and an M4 Design Study by Kith.
Described as two “exclusive showcars,” the models were created as part of a collaboration between BMW M and New York-based fashion brand Kith.
According to the automaker, the partnership started when Kith founder Ronnie Fieg had his 1989 E30 M3 sent to Germany to be “rebuilt from scratch using original BMW parts.” The idea was to create a ‘brand-new’ 31 year old car.

However, it isn’t a straight up restoration as the classic coupe features modified roundels on the hood, trunk and wheels. The model also has a Kith-branded steering wheel and special leather upholstery with embossed Kith monograms.
Many of these details have been carried over to the M4 Competition which sports a Zinnoberrot red exterior like the E30 M3. While the model retrains traditional roundels, there’s Kith badging on the trunk as well as Kith-branded leather on the headrests. The front sport seats have also been equipped with illuminated Kith badges.
Since the design study is based on the M4 Competition, it presumably has a stock twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. This enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of up to 180 mph (290 km/h).
In a statement, BMW M CEO Markus Flasch said “The tie-up with Ronnie Fieg and Kith is a great opportunity for BMW M GmbH to bridge the gap between the original BMW M3 and our new BMW M4 Competition Coupe from the sixth generation of this iconic model range.”
While both models are one-offs, the apparel brand teased “There is more to come from Kith for BMW 2020.” What that means remains unclear, but we should find out soon enough.
