The 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is one of the most accelerative cars on the market and has even been shown out-accelerating a McLaren 720S. It is so fast there’s pretty much nothing else on sale that can keep up, thus CarWow looked into the tuning scene.
The car brought along to take down the 911 Turbo S wasn’t any kind of modified supercar, like a twin-turbo Lamborghini Huracan or something similar. Instead, it was an Audi RS3 Sedan. Yes, an RS3 Sedan. Surely it has no hope of keeping up with a 911 Turbo S, right?
Well, it’s not quite that simple. There is a huge tuning world for Audi models out there and the RS3 has proven to be particularly popular to modify in recent years. This is largely because its turbocharged five-cylinder responds very well to upgrades, in particular ECU tuning, and thanks to the vehicle’s all-wheel drive and aftermarket upgrades available for its dual-clutch transmission, modified RS3s can rocket off the line with blistering speed.

The RS3 Sedan in question has 716 hp and can, according to its owner, run a quarter-mile in the 9-second range – which makes it pretty fast indeed.
So, how did it perform? In the first drag race, the Porsche got a far superior launch and sprinted into an early lead. Impressively, the Audi was able to keep pace with the 911 but wasn’t able to close the gap. It was a similar story in the second race, where the Turbo S again got off the line much better than the Audi.
And then there was the rolling start race – but we won’t spoil its outcome for you.
