As more and more individuals begin to eschew wild engine swaps in favor of installing compact and powerful electric motors, EV West has announced an electric motor package specifically designed with muscle car owners in mind.

What you’re looking at is an electric motor from Tesla that was built in collaboration with Revolt Systems for its recent all-electric 1965 Ford Mustang project. What makes the EV West system unique is that it has been designed to easily slot under the hood of classic muscle cars.

Speaking with The Drive, EV West confirmed the system has been designed to be longitudinally mounted with the factory small block engine mounts of various different muscle cars. This configuration means owners can retain their vehicle’s factory solid axle configuration by connecting the new powerplant directly to the various drivetrain components.

As we have come to expect from electric motors, this one packs a serious punch. In fact, it churns out roughly 600 hp and 900 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque, figures that could only be rivaled by a supercharged or turbocharged big-block V8 in a custom muscle car project. Of course, as this is an electric motor, all of the torque is available instantly.

Those wanting to turn their muscle car into an EV will need to source various other components to make it a reality. For example, the EV West kit doesn’t include things like batteries, a battery management system, charging components, or fuses.

EV West has yet to announce pricing details for the electric motor package but says it will cost somewhere between $25,000 and $35,000.
