The McLaren Elva is the British carmaker’s lightest-ever road car, although its home is on the race track where it can properly unleash its 804 HP (815 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque courtesy of a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
On paper, it can supposedly hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds, which isn’t hard to believe, although we imagine it requires an absolute perfect launch to do so, seen as how it’s RWD.
In order to show off just how fun and engaging the Elva is to drive, McLaren brought in one of its Formula 1 drivers in Lando Norris, who took the Elva out on the track at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix.

Lando was even tasked with remembering some of the Elva’s technical characteristics and repeating them for the camera while he drove. He didn’t do a very good job though, mostly because McLaren was feeding him a lot of information at once in a bid to make things more funny.
Aside from the video with Norris and the Elva ’round Silverstone, you can also watch McLaren chief test driver Kenny Brack take the roadster out on a lap of the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Seen as how he was directly involved with the Elva’s testing and development, it’s no wonder his footage ended up being the most entertaining to watch.
The McLaren Elva is one of the company’s most exclusive models ever produced (capped at just 149 vehicles), second only to the Speedtail.
