Ford has revealed that the all-electric Transit will debut in November.

The Blue Oval first announced plans for an electric version of the Transit in April 2019 and, at the time, said it would be ready for the European market in 2021. A couple of months ago, it added that the electric Transit will launch in the U.S. next year as a 2022 model and, during the company’s third-quarter earnings report, chief executive Jim Farley confirmed the vehicle’s debut is just around the corner.

“We own ‘work’ at Ford and these electric vehicles will be true work vehicles, extremely capable and with unique digital services and over-the-air capabilities to improve the productivity and uptime of our important commercial customers,” Farley said. “We believe the addressable market for a fully electric commercial van and pickup — the two largest addressable profit pools and commercial — are going to be massive and we’re going straight at this opportunity.”

Ford will build the all-electric Transit in the U.S. It forms part of the company’s electrification plan, which includes the all-electric F-150, that will see it invest more than $11.5 billion through 2022.

Speaking about the electric Transit and F-150 earlier this year, Ford’s CEO commented that “commercial vehicles are a critical component to our big bet on electrification. As leaders in this space, we are accelerating our plans to create solutions that help businesses run better, starting with our all-electric Transit and F-150. This Ford Transit isn’t just about creating an electric drivetrain, it’s about designing and developing a digital product that propels fleets forward.”
