Honda has quietly retired the NSX from Australia due to the extremely poor sales of the hybrid sports car.
The NSX can no longer be ordered new and, apparently, there is no dealer stock available either, so those looking for such a ride will have to make do with what the competition has to offer.
Discontinuing the NSX is hardly a surprise, considering that Honda hasn’t managed to sell any Down Under this year at all, CarExpert reports quoting VFACTS data. Only three units were delivered to their owners in 2019, two in 2018, two in 2017 and another two in 2016. The move is also tied to the company’s local restructuring plan, which will see them trim the number of dealers, reduce the lineup and adopt fixed-prices.

“The NSX model information was taken down from the website a few weeks ago, as it’s no longer possible to place a new order for NSX”, a spokesperson told the quoted website. “These changes – and others that will come into effect as we continue the transition over the next six to nine months – were foreshadowed in the announcements we made back in March around restricting our automotive business model, transforming local sales, customer service and dealer network, as well as rationalizing the model lineup.”
Previously available from AU$420,000 (US$298,468), the NSX has a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, two electric motors at the front and a third one between the engine and the nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. It has a combined output of 573 HP (580 PS / 427 kW) and 476 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint of 2.9 seconds and a 191 mph (307 km/h) top speed.
