With the notable exceptions of Ford and Jeep, U.S. car brands no longer maintain a pan-European sales network.
Sure, some European customers can buy the diesel-powered Cadillac XT4 or the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette but that only happens in select markets. In this context, certain companies have figured out a way to make money by importing U.S. vehicles that manufacturers do not offer in Europe.
As the official importer of Dodge and Ram vehicles in the EU/EFTA region, Munich-based AEC Europe is the most successful of them. Market demand for Dodge performance cars and SUVs and Ram pickup trucks is on the rise on the old continent, with AEC Europe reporting doubled sales numbers in September 2020 year-over-year.

AEC Europe closed the third quarter of 2020 with a growth of 78 percent year-over-year, shattering previous sales records. Q3 2020 was the third consecutive quarter with “exceptional growth”, which is remarkable given that the company already reported all-time high sales volumes in the first half of this year.
Compared to Q3 2019, the numbers show a 78 percent jump in vehicle sales for the same period in 2020. According to AEC, these spectacular results are a proof that American vehicles have a bright future in Europe. Unfortunately, we don’t get to learn exactly how many Dodge and Ram vehicles AEC sold in the region.
“Since we were officially licensed as an importer for Dodge and Ram vehicles by FCA in 2011, we have achieved steady progress every year. By consistently re-investing our gains and – of course – through the great performance of our team, we’re making these jumps bigger each year,” says Mike Tsesmelis, International Sales Director at AEC.
In the release, the company also expresses its interest for expanding its portfolio with other brands from U.S. carmakers. “These amazing results are not just proof for the current and future success of our company, but also for the continued steady demand for American vehicles in Europe. With this trend, as well as our highly flexible approach to niche markets, AEC can cater to the same needs of other OEMs for future cooperations,” Tsesmelis adds.
AEC Europe’s current portfolio includes the 2020 Ram 1500, 2020 Ram 1500 Classic, 2020 Dodge Charger, 2020 Dodge Challenger and 2020 Dodge Durango. The company is currently preparing the import and distribution of the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX performance truck, with deliveries expected to begin in December 2020.
