Mercedes-AMG might have just broken the Nurburgring lap record for production cars with the new GT Black Series.
As you can imagine, there is nothing official at this point, but YouTuber Misha Charoudin estimates that the German supercar lapped the Nurburgring in around 6 minutes and 43 seconds during a private track session.
This would make it almost 2 seconds faster than the previous record-holder, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, which did it in 6:44.97 more than two years ago.

Considering the fast pace at which this rumor has started spreading, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Affalterbach brand makes the official announcement today or tomorrow. Meanwhile, though, we have to take note of the footage that shows the impressive track-focused model doing what appears to be a victory run, with the GLC Coupe acting as the camera car.
The rumored achievement comes after the unofficial run at the Hockenheim-GP, where SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt drove it across the finish line in 1:43.3, around two tenths of a second faster than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR and 4.7 seconds quicker than the previous range-topper of the range, the GT R Pro.
With 730 PS (720 HP / 537 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque produced by the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, the GT Black Series has 40 PS (39 HP / 29 kW) less and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) more than the Aventador SVJ. The Italian supercar’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 rockets it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and up to 350+ km/h (217 mph), whereas the AMG is 0.4 seconds slower and has a 325 km/h (202 mph) top speed.
