The GMC Hummer EV is one of the most exciting electric vehicles unveiled in recent memory and this video from YouTuber JerryRigEverything takes an up-close and detailed look at the innovative pickup truck.
The YouTuber is better known for taking smartphones and tearing them down but, given the tech-focused nature of the GMC Hummer EV, and other electric vehicles for that matter, it’s fitting to see him being among those that were invited by GM to check out the truck during its world debut earlier this week.
In addition to highlighting some of the key exterior and interior details of the vehicle, JerryRigEverything spends a decent amount of time discussing the battery pack of the GMC Hummer EV that includes pouch-style cells.

This battery pack will power a trio of electric motors in the Edition 1 variant, which deliver a total of 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of torque. GMC says this allows the heavy four-wheel drive pickup to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in as little as three seconds with the available ‘Watts to Freedom’ launch control system.
A handful of other variants are on the cards. In the fall of 2022, GMC will launch the Hummer EV 3X with the same three-motor setup but output reduced to approximately 800 hp and 9,500 lb-ft (12,880 Nm) of torque. In the spring of 2023, it will introduce a 2X version with a dual-motor powertrain rated at 625 hp and 7,400 lb-ft (10,033 Nm) of torque. Finally, in the spring of 2024, GMC will launch the entry-level model with the same powertrain as the 2X but with range reduced from over 300 miles (483 km) to approximately 250 miles (402 km).
