After unveiling the stunning S1 Project supercar just last month, Italian coach-builder Ares Design has now released official renderings depicting a roofless version of that same car, dubbed S1 Project Spyder. As with the regular S1, the Spyder is also built around the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8.
Like its fixed-roof sibling, the Ares S1 Project Spyder will be a limited edition model with just 24 units planned, and order books are already open. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it should cost more than the S1 Project, whose tag reads €500,000 ($591,000).
In the absence of a roof and a traditional windscreen, the Spyder features two wind deflectors that create a virtual canopy, redirecting the air current over the passengers and into the air intakes behind the headrests.

Its bespoke hand-crafted interior is finished with the highest grade Nappa leather and Alcantara. Safe to say that this is the most luxurious Corvette interior we’ve ever seen – both S1 Project cars are based on the latest-generation Vette.
“We’ve had always planned a Spyder version of the S1 Project and since we revealed that car last month the reaction has been fantastic, so we are very pleased to release details of the S1 Project Spyder,” said Ares co-founder Dany Bahar. “We wanted to create a model that is a true tribute to the pleasure of sport driving. This new Barchetta version adds more charm to the S1 Project design as it takes additional inspiration from the world of motorsport and the racing cars of the past.”
In terms of performance, the S1 Project Spyder will utilize the Corvette Stingray’s naturally-aspirated V8 unit, which thanks to Ares’ tuned ECU and a bespoke crafted exhaust, will put down a maximum output of 700 HP (715 PS), with the aid of an 8-speed dual clutch automatic and rear-wheel drive. In a straight line, it will rocket to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds.
