For the past few years, the McLaren 720S has been the quickest supercar on sale, but it has some new competition in the form of the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Which is the most accelerative? Let’s find out.

The 720S and F8 Tributo featured are owned by Brooks from the DragTimes channel on YouTube. Both are completely stock and were pitted against each other at a drag strip in Florida.

Before the head-to-head races, the driver of the McLaren completed some test runs, and during both of them, set 10.0-second quarter-mile times. Then, it was time for the two to go head-to-head.

In the first drag race, the driver of the Ferrari gets a far better launch and is able to maintain an impressive lead over the McLaren. Ultimately, the F8 Tributo crossed the line in 10.445 seconds at 136.32 mph compared to the 10.469 seconds and 139 mph trap speed of the McLaren.

In the second race, the two sprint off the launch at near identical speeds and it is the 720S that is able to gently pull ahead of its Italian rival. However, the McLaren got a jump start and was actually slower down the quarter-mile, needing 10.455 seconds compared to the 10.363 seconds of the Ferrari.

We won’t ruin the result of the third and final drag race. However, it’s worth mentioning that, in ideal conditions, the 720S can dip into the 9-second bracket while the Ferrari F8 Tributo doesn’t seem to be capable of anything quicker than 10.3 seconds. One mistake from the driver of the 720S, though, and the Ferrari can easily beat it.
