Shocking footage has captured the moment a woman crashed her Lincoln Navigator carrying her three children into a house in Brentwood, New York.
The incident happened last week and 34-year-old driver Ashley Thomas-Smith was arrested and is facing a slew of charges including driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of children.
Security cameras outside the home of Angelica Reyes show the Navigator being driven by Thomas-Smith smash into the letterbox of the property before being shunted up onto two wheels, careening across the lawn and slamming into the kitchen. Reyes told CBS New York that she was with her family at a friend’s home at the time of the incident and was notified of the crash through a smartphone application linked to the house’s Nest security system.

She quickly rushed home and found the driver and the children of the silver SUV were stuck. Neighbors helped to free them and all escaped with minor or no injuries.
Things could have been so much worse as Reyes recently opened a daycare inside her home before the pandemic. She told local media that she was overcome with emotion that there were no children in the home at the time of the crash.
“When you drunk, you don’t drive, especially when you have your kids in the car. That’s terrible. I don’t even know what was passing in her mind,” Reyes told CBS New York.
Ashley Thomas-Smith was filmed leaving her arraignment last Monday and apologized to the homeowner.
“God bless the kids. God bless the newborn and I apologize about the kids,” she muttered.
