The 11foot8 bridge in Durham, North Carolina has claimed yet another victim, namely a caravan being towed by a pickup truck.
This particular incident happened on September 22 and was captured by a nearby camera. While the damage is bad, it could have been much worse.
As the driver of the caravan approaches the bridge, they show no signs of braking, seemingly thinking that the caravan would have no trouble getting under the bridge. While the roof of the caravan was low enough to squeeze under, the two air conditioning units sitting on top protruded too much and were destroyed in the impact.

It’s abundantly clear that the driver of the pickup wasn’t paying enough attention, as they also ran a red light just before reaching the bridge. The uploader of this video says that the driver returned to the scene and cleaned up the mess that they had left behind.
As you’ll notice, there are two large signs on either side of the bridge that confirm it is 12’ 4” tall. While it used to be 11’ 8”, the North Carolina Railroad Company raised the bridge by 8 inches in October 2019 in a bid to reduce the number of incidents.
