Back in the early 2000s, it would have been hard to imagine that, in a little over a decade, something like a Tesla Model X could become mainstream.

Yet here we are, living in an era of futuristic designs, with carmakers no longer shying away from bringing concept looks into production at a much faster rate than before. We can only imagine what the next 10-15 years will look like if automakers stay on this path.

Speaking of imagining things, how about this spectacular thesis project by Daniel Gombo? His work was supervised by Pininfarina, resulting in the eSUV, a fully electric crossover that looks a lot like a high-riding futuristic sports coupe.

It’s definitely not conventional in any sense of the word. Stylish, sporty, sleek, plus various other attributes work best in attempting to describe its dynamic appearance.

“The bonnet blades can be considered as another design feature of the exterior theme,” says the designer. “It helps to break the shape from the planar view and brings the sporting character to the car. In other words, the sculptured nature of the exterior on the side makes a significant difference with the flat shape of the hood defined by two striking lines. It also works as an aerodynamic duct alongside with the front and rear diffusers.”

Those shocks at the rear by the way are there for opening the trunk, where you can store additional luggage or even extra batteries.

As for the interior, it’s got a 2+2 layout, with just a squared-off steering wheel and no displays or physical buttons, although we reckon that’s because this is more of an exercise than an actual concept.

Note: These are independent illustrations made by Daniel Gombo and not an actual Pininfarina design.
