The all-electric Polestar 2 is being recalled, shortly after reports surfaced of owners experiencing significant issues.

In a statement, the Swedish car manufacturer confirmed that it was recalling all examples of the Polestar 2 delivered to customers in Europe and China. All up, 2,189 vehicles have been delivered and the recall comes after three cars lost power to the wheels while driving.

Polestar says the problem has been triggered by a fault in the software of the battery-energy control module. There have been no reports of accidents of injuries caused by the issue. Polestar started to inform customers last Friday that they must visit a local service point to have the problem fixed.

For those that can’t have their cars immediately repaired, Polestar says that if a customer does experience a loss of power they should exit the car, lock it and wait for 10 minutes. Once re-entering and re-starting the car, it should be operational once again. Speaking with Auto News, a Polestar spokesman said this is simply a short-term solution and doesn’t fix the issue.

Interestingly, the spokesman added that this type of problem could be fixed with an over-the-air update but confirmed such updates won’t become available for the Polestar 2 until 2021.

Of the Polestar 2 models involved in the recall, 843 are located in Norway. A further 595 reside in Sweden, with 280 examples in the Netherlands, 202 in Germany, 129 in Belgium, 110 in the UK, and 30 in China. While the Polestar 2 did recently land in Switzerland, the U.S., and Canada, customer deliveries haven’t started in those countries and the cars will be fixed before buyers are handed the keys.
