Restomod Auction: 1970 Mustang SVT “Terminator” Cobra Or 1974 Challenger Hellcat?

Two restomodded iconic muscle cars are getting auctioned off next month, with bidding set to start on November 2 for the 1970 Ford Mustang SVT Terminator Cobra and November 3 for the 1974 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

This is an online auction, courtesy of The Market, and the cars are estimated to fetch between £90,000 – £120,000 ($116k – 155k) in the case of the Ford, and £85,000 – £100,000 ($110k – 130k) for the Challenger.

These cars were extensively modified both technically as well as aesthetically and, combined, put down nearly 1,400 HP, with the Hellcat-powered Dodge packing 707 HP and the Mustang 688 horses.

“Both of these beauties in their original form are genuine motoring icons, guaranteed to set pulses racing,” said The Market director Tristan Judge. “However, the extent of work, detail and expense that has been spent on their modernization, meaning that their new owners can enjoy thrilling modern day performance and iconic classic looks, takes them to a whole new level and makes them utterly desirable.”

The Mustang combines the looks of the 1970s original with several upgraded components taken from the 2003/04 ‘Terminator’ Cobra developed by Ford’s SVT team. Its modified 4.6-liter V8 has been fitted with a 2.6-liter Kenne Bell supercharger to produce 688 HP, way more than its original 390 HP. As a result, top speed is said to be over 180 mph (290 km/h).

As for the Dodge, it’s finished in Mopar Snakeskin Green, with a modern 707 HP Hellcat V8 under the hood and a custom suspension setup to improve handling. Inside, mods include an Intelletronix 6-gauge dash panel, Alcantara upholstery and more.
