Kia is continuing its promotional campaign for the 2021 K5 and in this latest clip, claims that the new sports sedan is superior to the BMW 330i.
The Kia K5 is currently sold in LX, LXS, GT-Line, and EX guises, all of which feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 180 hp and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. However, from November, a flagship K5 GT model will be available, and presumably, it is this variant that Kia is comparing to the 330i.

According to the car manufacturer, the K5 has proven itself to accelerate harder than the 330i RWD in dry conditions while performing a slalom in wet and dry conditions quicker than its German rival. That’s quite an achievement as the current BMW 3-Series has been lauded for its good handling.
On paper, the K5 GT certainly has the upper hand on the BMW. Whereas the 330i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, the K5 GT has a larger 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 290 hp and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission powering the front wheels and helping the K5 GT to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a respectable 5.8 seconds.
While we will have to wait to see for ourselves if the K5 GT is better to drive than the 330i, it certainly has the upper hand when it comes to pricing and starts at $30,490. By comparison, a rear-wheel-drive BMW 330i starts at $41,250.
