A classic Arrows-Ford A11 F1 car set a new outright lap record around the Goodwood Circuit during the Goodwood SpeekWeek over the weekend.

Behind the wheel of the car was Nick Padmore who also happens to hold the official lap record around the circuit set with a Lola T70 Spyder during the Bruce McLaren Trophy race at the 74th Members’ Meeting in 2016.

Heading into the final shootout of the weekend, Padmore had proven himself to be the man to beat with a best lap of 1:09.914 set during a qualifying session. He was unable to beat this time during the shootout but was still quick enough to leave all of his rivals for dead.

The second quickest car of the weekend was a Dallara SP1 Le Mans Prototype powered by a screaming Judd GV4 V10 engine. It set a best lap time of 1:11.573.

The third-fastest car was an epic Lotus 77 F1 car with a John Player Special black and gold livery. With Marco Werner behind the wheel, it needed just 1:14.324 to complete a lap and while it wasn’t the quickest, we think it was perhaps the most special car competing in the shootout. Another classic F1 car competed in the shootout in the form of a McLaren M23, a vehicle that made its Formula 1 debut during the 1973 season.

Other cars from the shootout included an Audi R8 LMS and a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
