The exterior and interior design of the 2022 Genesis GV70 has been revealed before the SUV’s official launch later this year.
Genesis has employed its ‘Athletic Elegance’ design philosophy when creating the GV70. As such, the front end includes the brand’s Crest Grille while also sporting similar Quad Lamps to mimic those of other new Genesis models like the G70, G80, G90, and GV80.
Viewed from the side, the GV70 includes a ‘Parabolic Line’ that begins at the top of the headlights and runs down the side of the SUV. The Coupe-like roofline is also quite striking and there are angular windows positioned directly behind the sloping C-pillars.
Spin around to the rear and you will find similar Quad Lamp taillights to other Genesis models, as well as a G-Matrix pattern on the bumper. Standard GV70 models have a unique vertical shaped muffler and body-colored diffuser while the flagship GV70 Sport model (pictured in red) has unique 21-inch wheels, a bespoke front bumper, and circular tailpipes.

As for the cabin, standard GV70 models include a two-spoke steering wheel and include the company’s latest widescreen infotainment system. Elsewhere, the minimalist and stylish interior includes a second screen to display the HVAC settings. Beneath this small display are buttons for things like the navigation system, radio, and other media functions. The interior of the GV70 is largely the same but has a unique three-spoke steering wheel.
“The audaciously designed new GV70 breaks new ground for Genesis through purity of design execution,” senior vice president and head of Global Genesis Design SangYup Lee said in a statement. “The new GV70 inherits the Genesis design DNA including signature elements, such as the Wing Face and Two Lines. Along with the G70, the athletic 70-series line-up expands our design territory. As a luxury brand based in Korea, we are excited to offer ‘Beauty of White Space’, Genesis’ contemporary spatial experience exclusively to our special customers.”
What powertrains will be available?
While Genesis did not release any technical information at this stage, we know that it utilizes the same platform as the G70 and thus should offer standard rear wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive (depending on the market).
The entry-level model will have a turbocharged four-cylinder, though at this point, it’s still unsure if it will be the company’s familiar 249 hp 2.0-liter or (most likely) the newer 2.5-liter that’s good for 300 hp. The Sport is expected to offer either the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with around 365 hp or the slightly bigger 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing about 375 hp.
Other markets outside North America, including South Korea, may also get a 2.2-liter turbodiesel pumping out 199 hp (149 kW / 202 PS) and 376 lb-ft (441 Nm) of torque.
