GM never offered a Corvette police car from the factory, although some U.S. police departments and sheriff’s offices have used Vettes sporadically over the years.
With the mid-engine Corvette C8 in production since 2020, you may wonder what are the odds of GM changing its mind and finally releasing a police version. Very slim, actually, as building a 2021 Corvette Police Interceptor or Police Pursuit Vehicle would make no financial sense – both for the automaker and prospective buyers.
Remember we’re talking about a mid-engine car that’s less practical than its predecessor as well as more expensive to buy and maintain. Police departments and law enforcement agencies across the country would have a hard time explaining a purchase like that.

With that in mind, the only way we can see a mid-engine Corvette police car happening is if the automaker donated one to be used as a high-profile pursuit vehicle or for transporting blood and organs. Lamborghini donated two Huracan supercars to the Italian State Police so why can’t Chevrolet? Until that happens, you can get a pretty accurate idea of what a 2021 Corvette police car would look like courtesy of these renderings from Aksyonov Nikita.
The Photoshop expert envisioned the C8 Corvette as a police interceptor, hence the modifications including steel rims, black and white livery with white ‘Police’ decals on the sides, and emergency lights consisting of a spotlight on the driver’s side A-pillar, roof light bar and two additional flashing lights in each bumper.
Let us know if you like this hypothetical Corvette C8 whose mission is “to protect and to serve”. Just don’t get too carried away by the prospect of a Corvette police car because we all know that won’t happen. A look at Chevrolet’s current lineup for police and law enforcement agencies reveals only three models, none of which is a car: the Chevy Tahoe PPV, Tahoe SSV and Silverado SSV.
