As the new Toyota Hilux reaches showrooms across Europe, the Japanese automaker has released a full gallery and all the details of its latest pickup truck.

The highlight of the updated Toyota Hilux is the new more powerful 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 201 HP (204 PS) and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. The new engine is available with both manual and automatic six-speed transmissions and four-wheel-drive as standard. However, manual-equipped models have maximum torque limited to 309 lb-ft (420 Nm).

The other engine in the updated Toyota Hilux range is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel, which produces 148 HP (150 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque between 1,600 and 2,000 rpm. Both engines are of course Euro 6d-compliant.

The exterior of the new Hilux has been refreshed with a new front grille and bumper, as well as new LED headlights and taillights and new wheel designs to choose from. Step inside and you’ll find an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, together with a more extensive equipment list than ever.

Toyota has also redesigned the range-topping Invincible grade of the new Hilux for leisure customers; The new Hilux Invincible adopts a more rugged exterior styling, with an extra skid plate, exclusive fog lamp bezels, front and rear over fenders, and more.

In addition, Toyota has revised the suspension of the new Hilux in order to improve the on-road comfort; the rear leaf springs have been redesigned, together with new bushings, to provide a smoother ride, in addition to retuned shock absorbers all around. The new Toyota Hilux is also getting a variable-ratio power steering for better response and feel, as well as better fuel efficiency.

Models fitted with the four-wheel-drive system also get a new electronic function that simulates a mechanical limited-slip differential in 2WD mode for improved traction. The changes include a lower engine speed at idle and a retuned accelerator response for greater control, and an updated VSC system. All Hilux Double-Cab models come with a ground clearance of 310 mm, approach and departure angles of 29 and 26 degrees respectively, and the ability to wade to a depth of 700 mm.

Toyota also offers more than 300 accessories for the new Hilux, and a choice of 10 bed covers, allowing customers to further customize their new pickup truck. The company’s official range of accessories also includes scuff plates, fender protectors, bed liners, hardtops, and a selection of manual and electric aluminum roll covers.
