2021 Ford EcoSport Active Unveiled, Costs Puma Money In The UK

Ford has officially unveiled the EcoSport Active, a more rugged-styled variant of its small crossover.

The 2021 Ecosport Active will launch from £21,645 (equal to $28,248) in the United Kingdom, carrying a £2,950 ($3,850) premium over the base EcoSport and being £5 ($7) pricier than the Puma.

As we already knew, the off road-inspired small crossover features additional body protection, with black plastic cladding at both ends, to the sides and around the wheel arches, as well as a tweaked grille and increased ground clearance.

It also features ‘Active’ badges on the front fenders, but other than that, it is pretty much identical to the regular versions. The same can be said about the interior, although it has ‘A’ (for Active) branding in the front seatbacks and revised upholstery. The equipment list soldiers on as well, and includes an 8-inch infotainment system, 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and a black-painted roof.

“Customers tell us they love how EcoSport’s bold styling, practical interior and versatility fits into their busy lives, so we’re excited to enhance the SUV with an Active version that delivers even more of those qualities”, said Ford Europe’s VP for Marketing, Sales and Service, Roelant de Waard. “The EcoSport Active will be a new addition to the Active series that offers extra capability and rugged style for customers who want to take their outdoor adventures to the next level.”

The EcoSport Active is available with a 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that produces 125 PS (123 HP / 92 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission and drives the front wheels. The average fuel consumption in the WLTP cycle is rated at 5.9-6.0 l/100 km (47.8-47.1 mpg UK / 39.8-39.2 mpg US) and the CO2 emissions stand at 136-137 g/km.
