The reception to the innovative GMC Hummer EV appears to have been very positive, with many people appreciating its bold design and tech features. However, that hasn’t stopped TheSketchMonkey from trying to improve on the electric pickup truck.
The YouTuber’s initial thought about the vehicle is that it is simply too big. Indeed, it is 216.8 inches long and is 86.7 inches wide and has a 135.6-inch wheelbase. Interestingly, another upcoming all-electric pickup, the Rivian R1T, is similar in size with a length of 217.1 inches and a 135.8-inch wheelbase. Nevertheless, the designer believes GM has missed an opportunity and, thus, has imagined it with significantly smaller dimensions.

For starters, he has shortened the wheelbase, which would inevitably help with the vehicle’s already impressive off-roading credentials. As part of this process, the large rear doors have been replaced by significantly smaller “suicide” ones that open backwards in a similar fashion to the Mazda RX-8. In addition, TheSketchMonkey decided to make the GMC Hummer EV’s thick C-pillar even more substantial.
We would absolutely love for GMC to produce a smaller version of the Hummer EV like this. Not only does it look good, but it would be much easier to drive around suburban environments than the standard model.
Will GM make it happen? Well, let’s just say that we’re not getting our hopes too high.
