We’ve seen all sorts of (usually performance) cars being put through their paces, trying to score big in unofficial lap times at different racetracks all over the world, but what about a vehicle designed almost exclusively for hauling your family and cargo hitting a rally-like stage out in the forest?
Enter the Team O’Neil Rally School and their special projects director Wyatt Knox, who improvised a course through the woods and is using it to test various cars, like this old Kia Sedona, which is beat up and on its way to the scrap yard.

The 2005 minivan is nothing to write home about. It features different tires on all four corners, makes all sorts of funny noises, has no power steering anymore, the automatic gearbox is very limited and the dashboard looks like a Christmas tree. It is also front-wheel drive and packs a V6 that won’t break any speed records.
Obviously, it is in rough shape, and no one is trying to deny that, but despite all the drawbacks, can it actually handle itself in the hands of a pro-driver, with left-foot braking, jumps and lots of oversteer? Spoiler alert: to us, the whole run looks very exciting, considering that the Sedona is positioned as far as you can get from a rally-worthy car. Actually, this would be a good time to wrap it up and let Knox talk you through it – after all, he was the one who made an old and beat up minivan look cool.
