BAC has shipped the first unit of the Mono R to its owner in Europe, and it boasts a unique livery inspired by the PlayStation racing series ‘WipEout’.
Created in collaboration with the video game’s co-creator and designer Nick Burcombe and graphic designer Eddie Wainwright, it took over 10 days to perfect.
The bespoke looks combine the classic FEISAR (Federal European Industrial Science and Research – one of the most famous teams featured in WipEout) colors of white, yellow and blue, complemented by visible carbon fiber.

“When playing WipEout on the PlayStation, I often dreamt of one day being able to fly around different race tracks for real in my own FEISAR ship. It’s not quite anti-gravity racing… but the frankly outrageous Mono R gives me the exact same sensation”, the car’s owner said. “It’s a true feat of engineering, technology and design – and with the way it looks, it certainly wouldn’t be out of place in any WipEout game!”
A limited production model of just 30 units, the Mono R was sold out before its 2019 presentation despite the steep starting price of £190,950 ($249,198). The one-seater supercar is a bit smaller than the regular Mono and packs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine co-developed with Mountune.
The naturally aspirated unit produces 340 HP (345 PS / 254 kW), a 35-horsepower improvement, rocketing the 1,224-lbs (555-kg) – down 55 lbs (25 kg) – weighing Mono R to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and up to 170 mph (274 km/h).
