Hoonigan always gets up to some fun stuff and recently pitted its modified 1969 Chevrolet P10 step van against an overhauled 1994 BMW 318.
Both of these vehicles are pretty remarkable but let’s start with the Chevy, shall we? Hoonigan first unveiled its modified P10 van in late 2019. It uses it as a promotional tool and displays it at various events across the U.S. and sells apparel out of it.
When new, the van had a 250 cubic-inch inline-six engine with a three-speed manual transmission. Eager to give it some extra performance, Hoonigan installed an LS V8 engine with a host of Holley parts. It pumps out approximately 400 hp and rocks a 4L80E transmission. It is an epic sleeper and is surprisingly fast.

In the other corner is a 318 that has also undergone a radical transformation since leaving the factory. Most notably, it has been inspired by Baja trucks and includes a Nissan SR20DET engine from an S14 with approximately 280 hp. It also includes a suspension lift, sits on off-road tires and includes a hilarious snorkel with a K&N air filter. It also includes Lamborghini-style scissor doors.
It was created with off-roading in mind but also delivers some respectable straight-line performance.
In the drag races held between the duo, it is the Chevrolet van that proves to be too much for the BMW. However, that’s not much of a surprise given its power advantage. Towards the end of the video, the Hoonigan team brings out a Hyundai Veloster N to race against the V8-powered van. It puts up a good fight but also can’t keep up.
