The crossover/SUV boom has led to the making of some pretty cool rides, with lots of space for a weekend getaway and car-like driving dynamics in the quickest models. It has also created a weird niche for big six-wheel drive trucks, and one of the baddest of them all is the Kahn Flying Huntsman.
At around £300,000 (about $390,000 at current exchange rates) a pop in the UK, it is out of reach for most of us, but those who can afford it will find a heavily modified Land Rover Defender 110 that has been stretched to the extreme (in more ways than one). It features a custom front end, big side steps for improved ingress and egress, a cargo bed that’s been covered up for some protection and no less than six wheels.

Powering the extended classic Defender is an LS3 V8 that has been used in many high-performance GM cars over the years including the Camaro and Corvette. It has a displacement of 6.2 liters and produces around 430 horsepower in this configuration. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox with high and low range and a diff-lock so, in theory, the Flying Huntsman is an off-road beast, aided also by the very generous ground clearance. It won’t disappoint on a smooth road either, even though the ride is a bit bumpy, yet drivers need to pay extra care to the stopping, because the brakes aren’t its strong point, apparently.
Inside, it has room for up to five passengers, leather upholstery, diamond-quilted headlining, sports seats at the front and an upgraded infotainment system with Bluetooth and two USB ports. It also has lots of storage spaces and can be further customized, if money is no issue – and let’s be honest, those who can afford to blow that much on a rig probably don’t know exactly how much money they have in their bank account.
