While Maserati’s upcoming Grecale SUV will initially be offered in combustion engine form and as a hybrid, the goal is for the carmaker’s entire lineup to become electrified within the next five years.
The brand’s CEO, Davide Grasso, offered this insight during a fashion web event this week, claiming that by 2025, all Maserati models will be either hybrids or fully electric, reports Reuters.
“The new Gran Turismo and Gran Cabrio models will be electrified too, all our line-up will be electrified in the next five years,” said Grasso.

We already know that the previously-mentioned Grecale SUV will also be Maserati’s first fully-electric model. The EV variant is said to arrive by 2022, when it will take on competitors such as the Audi e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQC. Furthermore, both the Levante and the Quattroporte will receive replacements too, in 2023 or 2024, with either hybrid or zero-emission versions on hand.
The MC20 sports car is in the middle of it all though, as it wears the front end design that will inspire all future Maserati models.
“The face of the MC20, with the low-mounted grille and the headlights positioned much higher on the fascia, is our new design language,” said the carmaker’s design boss, Klaus Busse back in September.
Future Maserati models will also be easily identifiable through their LED daytime running lights and prominent front grilles. Busse did not however say how or if the MC20’s rear end might end up influencing more conventional-looking models like the next-gen Quattroporte or Ghibli.
